The War Memorial Records
|
These records comprised a large grey lever-arch ring-binder of hand written A4 pages, with photographs of the war memorials pasted on. The binder contained all Ayrshire war memorials. I only made copies of those in the Cumnock and Doon Valley area (I have no family history connection to the other areas).
The location of the Lugar memorial and description of the Main Street in Auchinleck as the A76 mean that these records are from the late 1980s or early 1990s (certainly before December 1991). |
Extracts from the Roll of Honour
|
These records are extracts contain details from the First World War Roll of Honour books produced to honour those who died. However these records arrange the men by village/town, which is very useful. These records also contain some extra information which may be of use also.
The records have been typewritten with some later additions printed on a dot-matrix printer - suggesting that these were created in the mid-1980s. Again, the creator(s) of these records is unknown to me. |
